Tumbling Up

I was stumbling toward a future I didn’t really want, becoming a person I didn’t really like. Then a door swung open, letting the future in, a future I could not have imagined.

In this book my focus is early years, before career, before love and marriage and children, before joining the wider world. The Freeland Years takes the reader to a small Midwestern farm town. One stoplight, five churches, four bars. It’s the 60’s, a time of seductive mayhem and many temptations. In fourteen chapters, I chart the moves–and mistakes–I made. The book is a love song to my youth. It’s the book I always wanted to write. Doesn’t everyone?

Tumbling Up: A Memoir is available at Amazon in digital format (Kindle, $4.99) and paperback ($7.99).
